Celebrating the man(n) inside me...

We just learned that Eli will no longer be the only baby boy in our family. Come January 1st he will have a new brother.

To celebrate the happiness- and extra manliness- we spent the weekend camping.

Eli is going through an anti-camera phase. He puts his head down and refuses to look at the camera. I feel like the paparazzi trying to quickly sneak pictures of him before he turns away.

We bought him a stuffed Nemo fish, because he's been really into the sea and sea creatures. He calls him 'Meme.' He likes Nemo so much that when people, like the park ranger, ask Eli what his own name is he says, "Meme."

Baby Bump - 20 weeks

I had nothing to do with the pink sleeping bag. David picked it up and assured me it was the only one in Elijah's size.

This boy is both in love with and frightened to death of fire. He talks about it all the time, but around a real fire he keeps a good distance and when it grows big he gets nervous and wants to sit on my lap and say over and over, "fire hot." He also loves collecting sticks. He wants to hold them all at once, which results in a lot of frustration when he inevitably drops some of them.

Eli has been very interested in the new baby. He likes to touch and kiss my stomach and say, "Daydee." He often lifts my shirt to see the baby, but he is frightened of my belly button, which looks different now that it's flattening out. We took Eli to the 20 week ultrasound so he could see the baby and he thought the baby's heart looked like 'fire.'

This pregnancy has been super low key. Sometimes, I even forget I'm pregnant. Since finding out the gender I've started to feel super nesty, but since we already have a boy (born during the same month) I don't need to buy a lot. We have several gadgety things to buy and the most boring- a car seat, but nothing super fun like clothes, blankets or toys. David's first comment with the ultrasound tech was, "He's going to get sick of all the hand-me-downs."
My poor, poor hand-me-down baby.

  1. Congratulations!!! And I loved having two of the same gender in a row - they won't care they're wearing hand me downs and I love being able to dress Hailey in some of the same favorite outfits Tessa used to wear. Brings back memories. So excited for you!!

  2. Congratulations on growing the family!! I'm sincerely excited for you. I have passed hand-me-downs through three kids now. They are starting to get tatty and kinda gross. The girls don't know any different, it only bugs me, a lot, actually. Time to go shopping :)
Anyway, Eli will be a great big brother! And you will love watching them grow up together. Siblings teach us all we need to know about life. haha!
