After living in a dreary apartment that filled with our neighbors cigarette smoke everyday, we finally moved to my favorite part of town. David had to live out his "country" experience, which we soon realized was not as romantic as we imagined since the people drawn to the less populated areas in Oklahoma tend to be more rough around the edges than we're used to. This time around I pushed to move near the downtown, which has tons of free events, parks/gardens, art museums, biking trails, the river walk, old mansions, funky restaurants, music venues, coffee shops and boutiques. David only has to drive a mile to work and I have access to varying forms of entertainment within walking distance, which I've found to be so beneficial since we only have one car.

Since the weather has been so lovely we spend a lot of our free-time outside. Eli especially loves getting out everyday and it eases the fussiness he experiences the two hours before bed. This weekend we walked to the Tulsa rose gardens. I rarely see (or smell) anything so lovely and Eli was quite captivated by all the bright blooms. It's amazing how a change in neighborhood completely altered the quality of our lives. David now feels the need to remind me not to get too attached since we hope to leave Oklahoma next summer.
As beautiful as it can be here, I reassure him that nothing can compare to the desert.

I love that you have a baby, and I love that he looks just like David. So perfect.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's interesting to me that you love the desert and think it's beautiful, while I detest it and can't wait to move back to the rainforest. Funny how where you grow up shapes you.
True- unless you're my husband, who is not fond of England and much prefers the warmth, sunshine and aesthetic of the American southwest. I'm just happy he's not in love with England, because I think I would be depressed living in perpetual damp and rain, ha.
ReplyDeleteYou two are made for each other! And constant rain can be depressing, if you don't like constant rain, which I do. That would probably change now that I have kids, though, since that would mean I would be stuck in the house with them all day.
